D&D 5e Monster: Corpsecrawler - The Necrotic Vermin That Thrives in Death [Trench War]

Hello good hunter!

I’m excited to introduce a new creature for your campaigns: the Corpsecrawler.

These tiny, necrotic beasts feast on the dead and grow stronger with every corpse they devour.

Found in desolate battlefields or forgotten tombs, Corpsecrawlers are a perfect addition to grim, war-torn settings. They make excellent scavengers, harbingers of something worse, or even tools for dark necromancers to weaken their enemies.

Here are some of the things that makes them a threat:

  • Essence Absorption: Corpsecrawlers gain bonuses to attack and damage rolls for every corpse nearby.
  • Feed Off Death: They heal when near corpses or undead creatures.
  • Diseased Bite: Their bite poisons targets, and if you’re already poisoned, you start gaining exhaustion levels.

While small, these creatures pack a punch and can quickly turn the tide of battle if left unchecked. Perfect for creating a sense of dread or foreshadowing greater horrors to come.

Take Care,

Evan | MonkeyDM
